The Challenge
The GCCAC handles highly sensitive data, and it does so on a nonprofit budget. That combination is the whole problem: the security obligations are those of a much larger organization, while the funding available to meet them is not. Every recommendation had to earn its place against a limited budget before it could be justified at all.
What We Did
Flux Labs implemented Google Workspace for Nonprofits with two-step login required, putting collaboration and identity on a properly managed footing at nonprofit pricing. Protection software was installed on every computer, and staff were trained on phishing recognition and cybersecurity best practices — the layer that matters most when the budget rules out buying your way past the problem.
The result
What changed for Gulf Coast Children’s Advocacy Center
Staff now pass 92% of practice scam-email tests, the center's three locations work from one secure collaboration system, and it meets the requirements of its cyber insurance. It got there by spending on the protections that matter most, at nonprofit pricing.
Lessons for other nonprofits
- Nonprofit pricing on Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 frees budget for security.
- Two-step login and staff training do more per dollar than any single product.
- Sensitive data brings big-organization duties, whatever the budget.
