Questions people ask
Is it safe to make a password on a website?
This one is made inside your browser using its built-in secure random number generator, the same kind used for encryption. The password is never sent to us or saved anywhere.
Passphrase or random characters?
Passphrases (four or five random words) are as strong as a long random password and far easier to type and remember. Use random characters for accounts you'll save in a password manager anyway. Our words come from the Electronic Frontier Foundation's word list.
How long should a password be?
At least 14 characters, or four random words. Length matters more than symbols. The strength meter shows roughly how long a computer would need to guess it.
Where should I keep my passwords?
In a password manager, like Bitwarden, 1Password or Keeper, not a spreadsheet or sticky note. Use a different password for every account and turn on two-step login wherever you can.
Still sharing passwords in a spreadsheet?
We set up a business password manager and two-step login for your whole team, so one leaked password doesn't open everything.
