How long should a business computer last?
Most business laptops and desktops are worth replacing at four to five years. After that, repairs, slowdowns and lost time usually cost more than a new one.
What about computers still on Windows 10?
Windows 10 stopped getting free security updates on October 14, 2025. Many of those computers can't run Windows 11, so they should be replaced now, or upgraded if they qualify. Microsoft sells a paid extension, but it's a stopgap.
